PAST PERFORMANCES â€‹

  • WINTERWONDERGRASS (February 2018): Rose Ashes and the Steamboat Pyroneers shared their circus performance art with festival goers just outside of the kid’s tent at Winter Wondergrass in Steamboat Springs, CO. Wearing their best circus themed costuming and face paint, the Pyroneers kept the crowds entertained by manipulating batons, color guard flags, helio-staff, poi, juggling balls & clubs. When the sunset Rose Ashes shared several glow props with the children during the event. Their smiling faces assured her that she made the children of the festival feel more than welcomed.

  • WINTER CARNIVAL (February 2018): Steamboat Springs is the home of the longest running winter carnival west of the Mississippi river. The annual event has been in existence for over 100 years! Carl Howlsen, AKA "The Sky Rocket",  of Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, organized the very first Winter Carnival in 1914.  The Winter Carnival is the  Winter Sports Club’s  largest annual event, raising funds for junior winter Olympians, a program that has produced more winter Olympians than any other snow-sports program in the United States! The Steamboat Pyroneers have been offering volunteer fire performances for this event every year since February 2016. This past year, the Pyroneers collaborated with the African drum & dance ensemble, performing a choreographed fire torch, African dance, and drum performance piece.

  • STEAMBOAT DANCE THEATER (January 2018):  Each year, the Steamboat Dance Theater, puts on an annual dance recital fundraiser for the local dance community. The proceeds go towards scholarship funds for dancers who may not be able to afford dance classes or weekend retreats. Previous steamboat dance theater members have been awarded scholarships to attend Spin Summit, Colorado's best flow festival! In 2018, Rose Ashes participated in the fundraiser by performing with Heidi Miller, of Spirit Wind Aerial Arts as an aerial silks performer and with Amy Curry in her drill team piece.

  • CIRQUE DU SNOWLEIL (December 31, 2017): Rose Ashes was hired by Double Diamonds bar to organize a New Years Eve event featuring the talents of a DJ, guitar player, body painter, stilt walker, fire dancers, aerial silk dancers, and aerial lyra dancers. During the event she made her debut as an aerial silks performer, an aerial lyra performer (during a partner lyra performance with Chandler Elizabeth). Rose Ashes also participated as a fire contact staff /double staff performer AND an LED 2 baton and trip whip dancer.

  • STEAMBOAT HALLOWEEN PARADE (October 31, 2017):  Rose Ashes took the initiative to collaborate with the African Drum & Dance Ensemble, and Ms. Suzy Bouzo to rehearse an African fire torch, dance, and drum performance act. The Steamboat Pyroneers bonded over the shared experience of making their own fire torches and learning African dance style inspired fire torch dance choreography.

  • TUNSAI BEACH, THAILAND (August 2017): Rose Ashes found her international fire spinning community on the beaches of Southern Thailand, making her debut as an international fire performer at a public bar in Tunsai.

  • STEAMBOAT SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL AFTER PROM (May 13, 2017): Andrea Kortas, SSHS After Prom Co-Chair 2017 invited the Steamboat Pyroneers to offer yet another performance for Steamboat's youth. The Pyroneers choreographed 5 circus themed routines for this event incorporating juggling, uni-cycling,  stilt walking, hula hooping, baton twirling, contact staff, poi, nunchaku, parasol, and acrobatics.

  • TOO FLY TO GET HIGH (April, 20, 2017): Steamboat Springs High School's Drug and Alcohol Counselor (and Steamboat Dance Theater hula hoop dance extraordinaire) Bonnie Robertson invited the Steamboat Pyroneers to perform at the Grand Future's sober 420 event held at the Ghost Ranch. An indoor glow performance and an outdoor fire performance was provided for the youth of Steamboat Springs, CO as a fun alternative to underage marijuana use. The Steamboat Pyroneers - keeping kids off drugs by introducing them to flow arts!

  • SUPER FUN VARIETY SHOW (April 8, 2017): On January 4th, 2017 The Steamboat Pyroneers offered a glow-go dance performance at the Chief Theater that was so well received that they were invited back to perform at the Chief Theater for the end of the ski season's "gaper" themed Super Fun variety show. Being the second time on this historic Steamboat stage allowed us to plan neon gaper themed costuming, purple tech lighting, and a hilarious choreographed glow performance to Rupaul's "You better work".

  • WINTERWONDERGRASS (February 24-26, 2017): The Steamboat Pyroneers worked the kids' tent at Winterwondergrass in Steamboat Springs, CO - offering impromptu juggling and object manipulation performances, as well as instructional workshops.

  • STEAMBOAT DANCE THEATER (February 16-18, 2017): Each year, the Steamboat Dance Theater,  puts on an annual dance recital fundraiser for the local dance community. The proceeds go towards scholarship funds for dancers who may not be able to afford dance classes or weekend retreats. Previous steamboat dance theater members have been awarded scholarships to attend Spin Summit, Colorado's best flow festival! The Pyroneer made their debut performance in the SDT in 2017 with a multi-prop performance piece.

  • WINTER CARNIVAL (February 9-11, 2017): Steamboat Springs is the home of the longest running winter carnival west of the Mississippi river.   • SUPER FUN VARIETY SHOW (January 4, 2017): The Pyroneers stepped on stage at Steamboat Springs' historic Chief Theater for the first time ever and did an improvisational glow performance to help promote the Steamboat Dance Theater's community dance theater recital.

  • FIRST FRIDAY ARTWALK (December 2, 2016): Pine Moon Art Gallery invited us to join them during their gallery opening. Our drumming friends from Steamboat's African dance troupe joined us.

  • STEAMBOAT HALLOWEEN PARADE (October 31, 2016):  The African Drum & Dance Ensemble collaborated with the Pyroneers on a Halloween fire, drum, and dance performance for the community at on Lincoln Ave in Steamboat Springs, CO.

  • ALL ARTS FESTIVAL: FLOW ARTS STREET PERFORMANCE STATION (August 20, 2016): In the summer of 2016, the Steamboat Springs Art Council threw a weekend long circus themed arts festival. Heidi Miller,  Steamboat Springs' beloved aerial dance instructor was given the duty of recruiting variety of  circus performers, including the Steamboat Pyroneers, for the event. This was our first opportunity to street perform on Lincoln Ave (the mains street of Steamboat Springs)! It was a success, opening the door to future public fire performance opportunities for the community.

  • FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION, GYPSUM, CO (July 4, 2016): The town of Gypsum booked the Pyroneers to perform a 5 minute choreographed fire poi routine with a Carlos Santana tribute band, right before their fire works display.

  • NEW YEARS EVE AT TRUFFLE PIG (December 31, 2015):  The Truffle Pig (a restaurant at the base of Steamboat Ski Resort) invited us to perform after the New Year's Eve torchlight parade and fireworks display.

​

  • COMMUNITY APPRECIATION LUAU (September, 2015): Cugino's invited the Steamboat Pyroneers & the African Drum Ensemble to join them at their community appreciation luau for a night of Hawaiian cuisine, fire dancing, and live drumming.

  • SUMMER LUAU (June 2015): The Old Town Hotsprings holds a yearly luau fundraiser to raise money for the summer American Red Cross community swim lessons. In 2015, the Steamboat Pyroneers offered a volunteer fire performance for the cause, featuring a 4 minute, 6 person, multi-prop choreographed fire routine and a 20 minute improvisational fire show.

  • AUTISM MASQUERADE BALL (April 2015):  In 2015, The Yampa Valley Autism Program, invited Erica Olson, of Heart Fire Massage, to organize a performance piece for their annual fundraiser. Bringing together a group of local circus performers for their very first show in a  4 minute, 6 person, multi-prop choreographed performance, Ms. Olson inspired creation of the Steamboat Pyroneers! 

  • YOGARDEN (September 2014): Before Rose Ashes settled down in Steamboat Springs, CO in December 0f 2014, she spent a few months visiting her brother on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. There, she worked with the Love Tribe of the Double Rainbow as an improvisational fire performance artist and fire performance safety specialist during their choreographed performance during the festival.

  • BURNING MAN (August 2014): Rose Ashes expanded her performance repertoire  by taking on the role of a drummer during the 2014 Burning Man fire conclave performance with Empire Fire, the NYC based fire performance troupe. She also made an appearance as an improvisational fire performance artists during their grand finale free burn after the conclusion of their 20 minute choreographed performance set.

  • RESTAURANT GIG (June 2014):  Rose Ashes helped establish the working relationship between Cinder Pertrichor, fire breathing and avant-garde fire performance extraordinaire and a local restaurant in Spanish Harlem, NYC.  She performed with her during the first of many fire performances before the closing of the establishment.

  • FARM FEST (June 2014): Rose Ashes was accepted as a member of the Farm Fest fire performance troupe in 2014, where she did a blinded folded fire nunchaku set, fire double staff/2 baton, and fire contact staff performances.

  • CORPORATE EVENT (May 2014): Rose Ashes performed a glow-go dance performance using her 2 LED batons with Natalie McFancy, using her 2 LED hoops, during a corporate event with some pretty important government officials in NYC. I would name drop, but I signed a form stating I would not disclose this information to protect the privacy of the audience members.

  • BELTANE FESTIVAL (May 2014): Rose Ashes coordinated a group fire performance with approximately 8 fire performers at the Center for Symbolic Studies in New Paltz, NY

  • SPACE PROM, DISCO FIST BURNING MAN CAMP FUNDRAISER (April 2014):  Rose Ashes performed with her fire nunchaku, double staff, and contact staff for an event raising money for a NYC based burning man theme camp.

  • HIGHLINE BALLROOM (March 2014): Rose Ashes was hired by Ayn Tiegman, to glow-go dance at an artistic night club event using her LED batons, pod poi, and LED hula hoop.

  • SYNAGOGUE EVENT:  (November 2014): Rose Ashes was hired by Natalie McFancy to do an improvisational fire act using her fire double staves and fire contact staff to celebrate the Jewish holiday Lag Ba-omer.

  • HALLOWEEN WAREHOUSE PARTY (October 2013): Rose Ashes was booked by TaraMcmannus, of 3rd Earth Fireproof to do an improvisation fire performance with Gear Bauchs using fire double staves, contact staff, poi, and double ended fire sword.

  • PRIVATE BIRTHDAY PARTY (October 18, 2013): Rose Ashes did a glow-go dance performance using her glow hoop, glow batons, and glow poi for a private birthday party in Harlem, NY.

  • BURNING MAN (August/September 2013) : Rose Ashes served as the lead choreographer for the fire staff act during the first year of Empire Fire, the NYC based fire conclave that has performed in front of the man burn on the playa every year since 2013.

  • NEW YEARS LATE NIGHT (January 1, 2013): Rose Ashes made a late night appearance at The Spinning Room, in Hunter, NY to celebrate the new year, 2013 using her fire double staves and contact staff.

  • NEW YEARS EVE (December 2012): Rose Ashes was booked by Charlies, to do a New ears Eve fire performance with Gear Bauchs using fire contact staff, fire double staff, fire poi, and double ended fire sword.

  • BLOCK PARTY: (July 2012): Rose Ashes was booked by the city of New York to coordinate a 3 person fire performance with Natalie McFancy and Alexis Hosea for a public block party in Brooklyn, NY using fire batons, contact staff, hoop, fans, poi, orb, and levi wand.

  • PRIVATE BIRTHDAY PARTY (June 2012): Rose Ashes coordinated a group choreographed performance with Natalie McFancy and Amaya Evers using fire poi, contact staff, and double staff.

  • SUMMER CAMP (May 2012) : Rose Ashes and Natalie McFancy made their debut in the NYC burning man community as fire performers during Disorient’s annual weekend long event, Summer Camp, located in upstate NY. The two of them showcased their skills using fire double staves, contact staff, poi, hoop, levi-wand, and orb.

  • FIRE & ICE (February 2012): Rose Ashes coordinated a weekend long snowsports/fire spinning event at Hunter Mountain, in conjunction with The Spinning Room bar.

  • NEW YEARS EVE (December 31, 2011): Rose Ashes was hired by the Spinning Room to do an improvisation fire performance for NYE using her fire batons and fire contact staff.

  • PRIVATE BABY SHOWER (October 2011): Rose Ashes made her debut as a NYC fire performer during this jungle themed private event in Harlem, NY using her fire batons.

  • PRIVATE BIRTHDAY PARTY (May 2010): Rose Ashes hired for the first time ever as a professional fire performer at a private birthday party in New Jersey.
